Each week throughout the season, fantasy experts from all over the interwebs have converged for a roundtable discussion of pertinent and pressing fantasy basketball topics.
The Topic Up for Debate: "Last week we highlighted players who had not lived up to draft day expectations, but were expected to turn it around over the second half of the season. This week, let's flip it: Pick out a few players that performed like studs over the first two months of the season, but will turn into duds in 2010?"
The Participants: - Alex Woods - BleacherCreatureRotoTalk - Ryan Lester - Lester's Legends - Nels and Patrick - Give Me the Rock - Tommy Beer - HoopsWorld - Erik Ong - Points in the Paint

Here are my picks. They're not going to end up as true "duds" per se, but will seem disappointing relative to their initial fantasy production.
Carmelo Anthony - While I am truly impressed with what Melo has been averaging thus far, I am apprehensive that he will not be able to keep up his MVP-level fantasy production throughout the entire season. The points will still likely be consistently high, but I am wary that his peripheral contributions in other categories will fade away. Marc Gasol - I did not pick Marc as being one of the surprises who will end up to be an end-of-season "real deal". He was definitely awesome over the course of the first couple of months. We are, however, already beginning to see him give way to the more aggressive (offensively speaking), Zach Randolph. His point production has already begun to dip and I do not foresee him bouncing back to his early fantasy form. He should still count as a drastically improved fantasy center, but will not be able to retain his November averages in the end.

On another note, for the month of January this 2010, catch my updates and articles over at Give Me The Rock. In case you aren't aware, I do a weekly read on the various player ups and downs and their impact in the head to head format over at Sports Grumblings. You can continue to enjoy my Fantasy Round Table posts here.
Cheers!
